Can’t We Just Be Friends? Friendship with Our Wives as the Foundation of a Happy Home

Mitch Muncy, Independent Book Publishers Association, Princeton, NJ

Introduction

Mitch Muncy

Understanding the friendship of husband and wife is key to living our vocation as husbands and establishing a happy, cheerful home. Nevertheless, in an overly busy society that tends to misunderstand, and perhaps even devalue, genuine friendship, men especially don’t often have the opportunity to reflect on what it means to be friends with their wives. Moreover, while friendship is easy to praise, it’s much harder to live in the ordinary details of life. Mitch Muncy, who spoke to the Boston Leadership Forum in 2005 on the publishing industry, will speak on the theory, practice, and decisive importance of friendship in marriage.

The Leadership Forum was established nine years ago by a group of downtown Boston professionals as a way to encourage men to live unity of life, integrating their faith into their professional, family and social lives.

The Leadership Forum takes its inspiration from the documents of the Second Vatican Council and from the writings of Popes Benedict XVI and John Paul II and of St. Josemaria Escriva, the Founder of Opus Dei. This talk is the third of the Leadership Forum’s ninth season. To learn more, please visit our website:
