Introduction

In our everyday interactions in the workplace, in our neighborhoods, and perhaps in our homes as well, we have occasion to interact with men and women who are unsure whether God exists or who reject Him altogether. Yet we, as believers, are called to cooperate with those of little or no faith to bring about many good and worthwhile accomplishments for the good of our communities. In speaking about his new book No One Sees God: The Dark Night of Atheists and Unbelievers, author and theologian Michael Novak has said: “Our country desperately needs a respectful dialogue between believers and unbelievers. I have tried, perhaps unsuccessfully, to mark out one way by which that dialogue might get underway, for the sake of brotherly comity, civility and increasing respect for one another.” We at the Leadership Forum invite you to join us to hear more from Mr. Novak, one of the great Catholic thinkers of our times.

About the Speaker

Michael Novak is a theologian, author, and former U.S. ambassador. In 1994 he received the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion, the equivalent of the Noble Prize in the religious world. His masterpiece, The Spirit of Democratic Capitalism, has been the primary influence for emerging democracies in Latin America. One reviewer called it "one of those rare books that actually changed the world." Mr. Novak has written some 25 books on the philosophy and theology of culture, while his essays and reviews have been published in many journals here and overseas.
