Most men at some point in their career wrestle with the challenge of balancing work with family life. This challenge is intensified during times of transition or opportunity – a new role in an organization, a promotion with greater responsibility leading to higher compensation, a move to a new city, etc. Others have to reconsider the hours they spend at work as their family grows and more help might be needed at home. Is there a right answer? No, but there is an effective framework through which these questions should be examined. To arrive at the best possible balance for you and your family requires a thorough understanding of your motivations. What is truly driving you? To examine these motivations Manuel Guillen will present an original ‘map of human motivations’, a framework that debunks all the myths of traditional models (self-interested, amoral and non-spiritual). Then he will describe how to use this ‘map’ in a practical way to help us taking the crucial journey to meaningful work-life balance.
